Vinaya Ghimire

Writer/Poet/Photographer

Literal meaning of my name is discipline, which comes from one of the three books of Buddhism called Vinaya Pitaka (Sanskrit: Basket of Discipline). However, I’m a Hindu. Couple of years ago my Buddhist name had immense influence on my thinking, so I began practicing Vajrayana Buddhism.

Since I was a child, I have seen many political upheavals in my country. My country men have always taught me to negate all kinds of extremism and authoritarianism, and have firm belief on religious tolerance.

I have done a 20 part Interview Series with women writers on HubPages. My tradition has taught me to see women in two different ways. One, you defy her because she is the divine feminine; two, you worship her body because she is the source of procreation.

On HubPages, I have published photography hubs, poetry, short stories, cultural essays, and articles on religion and philosophy. One of my photography Hubs was awarded The Hub of the Day on HubPages.

I have published more than 500 newspaper articles and over 150 articles on different niche content sites.

I have worked as an editor and proof-reader.

I have published a poetry collection.

This spring, I’m renewing my life in Nepal, dividing my time between Kathmandu and my farm. In the city, I work as a content writer and in the village I collect fiddleheads and grow okra.
